This hexagon expresses hemp leaves.
Since Heian era, this pattern was used for Buddhism decoration in Japan.

Asanoha pattern is also known as the pattern of Nezuko’s kimono from the anime “Demon slayer”.

In Japan, Asanoha pattern is used for baby’s clothes due to quick growth of the plant hemp.
This pattern has a meaning of talisman as well.
So people buy Asanoha patterned swaddling clothes for their baby to protect from negative vibes.
I used to have some Asanoha patterned kimono and clothes when I was a baby, too.

1. First, draw some lines horizontally. And draw triangles in the horizontal lines.

2. Stretch the triangle lines and make more triangles.

3. Draw rhombus in the triangle and upside down triangle.

4.Draw vertical lines above and below of rhombus. Done!

First, I drew Asanoha pattern with tailor’s chalk as draft.
I used a tailor’s chalk which will fade away with water or time.
