In Japanese, this food is called “Wakatake-ni”.

Wakame(seaweed) and Takenoko (bamboo shoot) food.
That’s why it’s called “Wakatake-ni”


In spring, I always want to eat this food.
I’ve been eating this since I was a kid.

The combination of bamboo shoot and wakame (seaweed) is amazing!

Ingredients for simmered bamboo shoots and wakame

Bamboo shoots 200g
Wakame 50-70g

Fish stock 250ml
Sake 50ml
Soy sauce 1 tablespoon 1 teaspoon

Recipe for Simmered bamboo shoots and Wakame

Prepare the fish stock. I used Niboshi and Kombu.

Put dried Wakame and water in a bowl for 5 minutes.

Cut the bamboo shoots.

When the fish stock is ready add the bamboo shoots and soy sauce and sake and boil it for 3-5 minutes.

Add Wakame and cook for 1-2 minutes.
